Trust now in discussion over affordable homes sites

16 June 2019: WHILST  awaiting the outcome of the CeramTec site planning application the Colyton & Colyford Community Land Trust (CCCLT) has been actively pursuing other possibilities. The Trust’s Board has been looking at nearly 20 sites, although some have been quickly ruled out as unsuitable.

CCCLT Chairman Charles Hill explained that other sites are more promising and that some formal approaches have been made to landowners. The Board awaits the outcome of these and further discussions (which are confidential at this stage). He added that the Trust has been successful in applying for grant funding to enable feasibility studies.

Homes England is continuing to work with East Devon District Council  in order to secure outline planning permission on the CeramTec site at the earliest opportunity. It is not required to deliver affordable housing as the redevelopment of the site benefits from what is known as ‘Vacant Building Credit’. However, Homes England has confirmed that it remains committed to working with EDDC to provide an element of affordable housing at the site.

Meanwhile the Trust’s membership has risen to just over 50 and Dr Hill  said he hoped more members of the community who support the cause would join as the momentum increases.
